Maseogo "The Culture Vulture"

Published By K Ashanti

One day as I was listening to one of my fav tunes on YouTube I came across an artist named Maseogo. At first listen I was like WOW this definitely has a different sound. A different melody with the passionate saxophone tones and mellow drums. I was feeling the vibe to the core of my being. TADOW was the song that played through my iPhone speakers and from that moment own it got on one of my YOUTUBE Playlists.

This song featuring producer FKJ is full of magic. So with this in mind I had to Feature this Artist on my platform. The “Trap House Jazz” musician Maseogo is creatively phenomenal. This 25 year old music icon does not only sing soulfully on his music track but he also plays 16 instruments. That’s a LOT.

What really inspires me about him is that He is a SELF-TAUGHT musician. He learned through watching YOUTUBE Tutorials. The LA Times reports “Born Micah Davis in Jamaica to two pastor parents and raised in Newport News, Va., Masego spent most of his childhood in church. As a kid, he found himself glued to the rhythm section while sitting in on choir rehearsals. With his knack for “beating on books,” he began playing the drums at age 8. “Gospel influences your soul,” he says. “If you’ve had church in your background … it’s just a part of your musical DNA. You have a little more passion with what you do.”

Despite being turned down from a prominent music scholarship Old Dominion University to pursue his musical career because of the lack of classical education the Multi Instrumentalist took another route. That is pure musical motivation. In college he began crafting his OWN music and MASTERING his sound. There is much more to this Culture Vulture story that I would love to highlight personally in an interview. MMCREW shares Artists who have an empowering imprint in music.
